Jeremy K. Franks, PGA

Head Golf Professional

Jeremy Franks began his position as the head professional at James River Country Club on March 18, 2011. Jeremy's prior professional career includes: First Assistant Golf Professional, Chevy Chase Club; Assistant Golf Professional, Four Streams Golf Club; and Apprentice Golf Professional, The PGA Village. In 2008 Jeremy achieved membership in the PGA of America. He has served as the Grow the Game Chair for the Center Chapter of the Middle Atlantic Section. He is very active in the Section and believes in serving his fellow PGA members. Jeremy's playing record includes All American honors while playing collegiate golf for Montgomery College. He also held the position of co-Captain duing the same season. He was medalist at his first PAT in 2003, and placed second in the first professional tournament at Williamsburg National. Jeremy has a passion for teaching. His students have won a variety of events ranging from club events to junior tour championships. Jeremy enjoys teaching "all" skill levels from beginner to advanced. Jeremy resides in Newport News with his wife Nicole, and his three children, Christopher, McKinley and Sienna. 

Joe Dargin, PGA
1st Assistant Golf Professional


In 2018 Joe Dargin joined the James River Country Club as the 1st Assistant Golf Professional.  Joe’s prior professional career includes:  Lead Assistant Professional at Bellevue Golf Club in Melrose, Massachusetts; 1st Assistant Professional at North Palm Beach Country Club in North Palm Beach, Florida; and Assistant Golf Professional at Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville, Virginia.  Joe attended the PGA Golf Management Program at Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina, as a Francis Quimet Scholar and, upon graduation, he earned his Class A PGA status in 2013.  Joe is very passionate about the game of golf and he is excited for the opportunity to share his passion and expertise with the membership through participation in golf instructional programs to players of all ages and abilities, tournament operations as well as the day-to-day operations of the James River Country Club.  Although being a New England native and huge Boston sports fan, Joe has family ties to Virginia and he is thrilled for the opportunity to make Newport News the new home for him and his wife, Jessica.
