Membership Policies

To define how membership occurs:

James River Country Club (the "Club") is a Virginia non-stock corporation which is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership at the annual meeting of the members held in February of each year.

Applications for membership are submitted to the Board by a Sponsor and a Co-Sponsor, each of whom must be members in good standing of the Club.  The Sponsor and Co-Sponsor must each write a letter in support of the application and they are also responsible for introducing the prospective member to at least three members of the Board.  Only individuals may be considered for membership.

The approval of the application and extension of an invitation to join the Club is in the sole discretion of the Board.  In considering applications for membership, the Board shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin.  A membership is not effective until the prospective member pays or qualifies for a payment plan for the payment of the initiation fee and the purchase of the required number of shares of stock for the applicable class of membership.
