Golf
One of the benefits of membership at the James River Country Club is the use of the golf course and its related services. Here is some information on how you can take full advantage of the golfing facilities and activities.
Staff
The full-time staff of the Golf Shop includes:
PGA Club Professional, Rick Harris
Assistant Professional, Sean Daly
These people are available to answer any questions you may have and, if you have any concerns or problems, they can be addressed to any of these individuals.
Events
The Club schedules numerous golfing events throughout the year including a Locker Room Tournament, a Member-Member Tournament, a Men's Club Championship, and a Member-Guest Tournament. Members can contact the Golf Shop to obtain a list of all of the events and the dates they are held each year.
In order to participate in the tournaments, a member can sign up for the full tournament program. The cost is $100 per year to pay for prizes. This is charged one time in the month of January, and there is no other charge to participate in tournaments except for cart rental. Sign-up sheets are posted in the Golf Shop a couple of weeks before the event begins, and a member can use this sign-up sheet or call the Golf Shop in order to participate. There is an additional charge for the Member-Guest Tournament which is determined by the tournament chairman.
Handicaps
A member must also have an established handicap to participate in the Tournament Program and to play in the Men's and Women's Golf Associations. The cost for the handicap program for adults is $20 per year, charged one time in the month of January, and there is no charge for juniors. In order to obtain and maintain a handicap, members should post their scores for every round of 18 holes in the computer found at the Golf Shop. For more details on the handicap system, members can call the Golf Shop.
